For some years
now the IEEE Florida West Coast Section (FWCS) has participated in the
Lignell Award Outstanding Teacher Recognition Program to recognize and
honor outstanding contributions by teachers to pre-college education in
Mathematics and Science. This year in association with the TBEWB
committee, the field has been expanded to include all counties in the
FWCS area. These counties include: Charlotte, Citrus, DeSoto, Hardee,
Hernando, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, and
Sarasota Counties. Three (3) Teachers will be selected from all who are nominated, who
will be the best of the best. This program is open to all individuals teaching classes in Mathematics or Science in the public schools during the current school year. We are currently seeking nominations for this year’s awards that will be presented at the Tampa Bay Engineering Week Banquet. If there is a teacher at your school who you think should be considered for this important award please download the nomination form and return it to the address below no later than December 16th, 2011.
